The 9th of February was a memorable day for our whole school; it was our 25th Anniversary Open Day. It was one of the main celebration activities of the Silver Jubilee.
To kick off the Open Day, a ceremony was held in the playground. The whole school assembled in the morning. When our honourable guests arrived, our school band was playing enjoyable and uplifting music. After we sang our school song, the Principal gave a brief welcoming speech. Our former principal, Ms. Lam Sui Hing, opened the time capsule which was buried at a specific spot in the playground ten years ago and dug up recently. She took out some of the message cards and newspaper articles from it and read them out aloud. All the students listened attentively as they were very curious about what happened in our school and society a decade ago. After that, the guests pierced bunches of colourful balloons and a lot of confetti was blown all over the playground. What a fascinating scene!
After the ceremony, the guests and students went to the school hall to visit the well-decorated game stalls prepared by various subject departments and school clubs. Some went to different classrooms to see the attractive display of students’ work. Many primary and secondary school students arrived during the day. I believe they all had an enjoyable trip.
The Open Day was definitely a meaningful and memorable experience. Personally, I have learnt how to work harmoniously with my schoolmates for a major function and to serve every visitor politely and cheerfully. This was indeed a very valuable experience for me.
