Kwun Tong Government Secondary School Graduation Ceremony-June 30, 2025
Kwun Tong Government Secondary School celebrated a momentous graduation day on June 30, 2025, filled with inspiring speeches and heartfelt celebrations. The ceremony was graced by the presence of esteemed Guest of Honor, Mr. Lau Ka Ming Matthew, a proud alumnus of the school, alongside SMC members, parents, and the student body.
Mr. Lau, who has risen to the position of Senior Inspector of Police in the Commercial Crime Bureau of the Hong Kong Police Force, exemplified the limitless possibilities that await the graduates. In his address, he shared valuable insights on success, reflecting on his own journey over the past decade. Mr. Lau spoke candidly about navigating his professional path through trial and error, gradually discovering his true interests and direction. He emphasized how the uncertainty he faced after university ultimately led to clarity as he identified his strengths and career goals—a process anchored in continuous experimentation, upskilling, and self-exploration.
His key message to the students was clear: "Career development is a marathon, not a sprint." He urged them to remain adaptable and persistent, never settling for less. Most importantly, he reminded them that their DSE scores do not define their future; what truly matters is their unwavering commitment to pursuing their dreams.
The ceremony also featured the presentation of awards to prize winners, conducted by Mr. Lau, Ms. Wong Ngai Ling, Chairperson of the Parents-Teachers Association, Mr. Chu Hon Wing, Chairperson of the KTGSS Alumni Association, and Mrs. Li Ho Suk Wa, Chairperson of the KTGSS School Management Committee. Each graduate received a small bouquet of flowers as a commemorative gift, symbolizing their accomplishments and the support they received throughout their journey.
Yung Nok Yi, representing the S6 students, expressed heartfelt gratitude to parents and teachers, wishing her classmates a bright future. The ceremony concluded with the graduates singing the school song, embodying their pride and joy in completing this significant chapter of their lives. The event was capped off with memorable drone photos and group pictures, capturing the essence of their time at KTGSS and the excitement of stepping into the future.
