Graduation Ceremony – June 29, 2026

Theme: “Ride the Wind, Break the Waves and Have a Smooth Sailing!”

Kwun Tong Government Secondary School celebrated its Graduation Ceremony on June 29, 2026, under the inspiring theme “Ride the Wind, Break the Waves and Have a Smooth Sailing!”  The ceremony commenced after the Flag Raising Ceremony and brought together graduates, parents, teachers, alumni and distinguished guests to celebrate the achievements of the graduates of 2026. The event was honoured by the presence of the Guest of Honour, Mr. LIU Ki-cheong (Eric Liu), an alumnus of the school and a well-known broadcaster and media professional.

In the address of our Principal, Ms. IP Lai-hung, she congratulated the graduates on reaching this important milestone and encouraged them to prepare themselves for the challenges and opportunities of the artificial intelligence era. She emphasized that graduates should equip themselves with strong language skills, communication skills and life skills, which are essential qualities that enable individuals to thrive in a rapidly changing world and remain irreplaceable in the age of AI.

Mr. LIU Ki-cheong shared valuable lessons from his personal and professional journey with his fellow graduates. He is currently the host of the RTHK programme Music Talk with more than 15 years of experience in the broadcasting industry. As an accomplished master of ceremonies, content creator and youth mentor, Mr. Liu encouraged students never to be afraid of taking on new challenges. He advised them to take the initiative to try new things, embrace uncertainties and begin preparing early for future opportunities. His message reminded graduates that success often begins with the courage to take the first step and the determination to persevere.

A significant highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of graduation certificates by the S.6 class teachers, marking the successful completion of the students’ secondary education. Awards were subsequently presented to outstanding students by Mr. LIU Ki-cheong, Ms. ZHENG Jiabao, Chairperson of the KTGSS Parents-Teachers Association Ltd., Dr. CHENG Wing-tung, Vice-Chairperson of the KTGSS Alumni Association, and Principal IP Lai-hung, recognizing the awardees’ exceptional achievements and contributions to school.

On behalf of the graduating classes, SZE Nga-lam, Representative of S6 Graduates, delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks. She expressed sincere gratitude to teachers for their unwavering guidance and dedication, to parents for their unconditional love and support, and to fellow classmates for the friendships and unforgettable memories forged over the past six years. Reflecting on the school motto, “Honesty, Faith, Diligence and Modesty,” and the school slogan of “Benevolence builds Harmony”, she encouraged her fellow graduates to uphold these values and face the future with confidence, perseverance and compassion.

The ceremony also featured a touching souvenir presentation. Representing the graduating class, CHAI Chun-fai, Daniel presented a commemorative gift to Principal IP on behalf of all graduates. The souvenir, consisting of a picture decorated with handmade flowers alongside the inspiring words “Pursue Truth, Embrace Virtue,” symbolized the graduates’ appreciation for their alma mater and their commitment to carrying forward the school's values.

The Graduation Ceremony concluded with all graduates, guests, teachers and parents singing the school song together, celebrating their shared memories and deep connection with the school. This was followed by a heartwarming and symbolic activity in which eight heart-shaped balloons were kept afloat and passed from the front to the back of the hall. Amid laughter and cheers, guests gently patted the balloons upwards, allowing them to soar through the air as they travelled across the venue. The joyful scene reflected the support, encouragement and best wishes from the school community for the graduates as they embark on new journeys. Filled with gratitude, pride and optimism, the occasion marked the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. As the graduates set sail towards new horizons, they are encouraged to ride the wind, break the waves and navigate confidently towards a bright and promising future.
